DAVID PRADAS

David Pradas i Gené

David Pradas (1974, Castellserà) is an engineer and musician, training that followed at the same time and that he finalized in Manresa where, meanwhile he finished engineering at the Universitat Politècnica, he studied harmony, composition and orchestration with Manel Camp and Llibert Fortuny, among other teachers. Previously he had received classical training at the Conservatori del Liceu and Cervera.

From that period are his two firsts albums: L’altra part (1999) and Zodíac (2000) for solo piano. The next decade he kept on training in musicology at the Universidad de la Rioja and music production at the school Microfusa in Barcelona.

After making a postgraduate in Musical Composition and Contemporary Technologies at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, founded the music production company La Gata Roja Produccions, a creative space that allowed him to record from that moment all his following works: El Balancí (2010), 14 micro-pieces for solo piano, poetry and drawing and rEsd9 (2011), his first electroacoustic album where incorporates everyday sounds in an attempt to explore new sound levels.

In 2014 he releases what would be his most ambitious production: Insectum, a nine pieces suite for piano, contemporary dance and interactive video projections. In front of a 8x4 meters display, two dancers dance in synchrony with the piano music live and with the projection of images of an amazing plasticity that get us into a sensorial unique experience. The show was performed all over Catalonia and in 2016 was performed with a lot of success in Madrid.

In 2016 he ended a master of composition for audiovisuals at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska of Madrid what opened him the doors to work in audiovisuals world composing for animation, advertising, videogames, television, audio branding and cinema.

In September 2017, what will be his seventh work sees the light: Umbilical, Música&Vida: twelve pieces for piano, string sextet and five female voices. On this album, Pradas recovers the most electroacoustic sound to describe the pregnancy process, a mother-son bond that wraps them forever in an infinite fabric of tenderness. In this case, for the staging of the show, the author uses a virtual piano five meters long, using its lid to project evocative images that take the viewer into a dreamlike, unreal environment...very special.

In 2019 with the vocal trio Krregades de romanços harmonizes twenty Catalan children's songs with the desire to be the first album of songs for children in a Lleida accent and Infantília is born, an album with didactic material to work in schools and music schools.

In 2021, as a result of a visit to his friend Òscar Carrera who lives in a farmhouse hanging at the top of the Cingles de Bertí, near Centelles, he falls in love with the place and plays a first video recorded by his friend. It was the beginning of an epistolary relationship in which he would send her a video or time-lapse and he would put on music. At the end of the year the documentary Postals dels Cingles de Bertí was born with a total of 12 multimedia postcards of the different corners and farmhouses of the peculiar place of the moianès.

He is currently working on a project in which he will set to music ten poems by the poet from Agramunt, Guillem Viladot, entitled Regne Retut.
